Washington, DC

Since 2008 when Founder Sara Potler returned from Bogota, Colombia, both the curriculum in its entirety and individualized workshops and assemblies have been implemented in DC Public Schools, DC Charter Schools, and local community centers. Dance 4 Peace has worked with 900 youth in Washington, DC and trained 14 DC PeaceMovers to both lead curriculum facilitation and support classroom teachers in program implementation and training. We have worked with the following Washington, DC schools and community centers in our global network: Asian American Lead, Burroughs, Center City Public Charter Schools, Columbia Heights Educational Campus, Communities in Schools of the Nation's Capital, Ferebee Hope Elementary School, Imagine School Southeast, Kid Power, LaSalle-Backus, Malcolm X, Miner Elementary, Moten at Wilkenson Elementary, Payne Elementary, and Tyler Elementary.

Dance 4 Peace meets local and national standards for physical education. Because of its interdisciplinary nature, Dance 4 Peace can be implemented as part of physical education, dance, theater arts, global or social studies, or civic or character education. Please contact Amanda D'Annucci, U.S. Program Manager, to learn how you can integrate the Dance 4 Peace program into your DC-area school or community center: amanda@dance4peace.org

You might even get to learn the "Welcome to DC" D4P dance...

“It's a fun and exciting way to get youth engaged while providing an avenue for them to be aware of themselves and how they can contribute positively to society. The program also creates a great rallying point to get youth to think and act globally. It is more amazing that Dance 4 Peace is a program that can be applied globally in differing cultural contexts.”
